How do you approach coaching and spiritual companionship?

Listen

Our mission is to help you grow your relationship with God and others through running. You will find we listen at every turn. You are the only one who knows what it’s like to be you, and we welcome you to show up as authentically as possible

Respond

You’re done with generic plans, advice, and preaching. You want something personalized to you. We realize you come looking for a guide, someone who knows the path well. We think that one of our most valuable offerings is being attentive and responsive to you, as you are.

Consistency

When we’re talking about running or the spiritual life, we see these as devotions that build up relationship with God and others. Relationship takes consistency and is benefited most with regular connection. There is no “get rich quick” scheme to your running goals or growing your relationship with God. We help you focus on what it takes to maintain your stoke on this journey

Recovery

In the same way we organize most of our training plan around running for consistency rather than capacity on a given day, we recognize you can only progress as far as your body and spirit can integrate what you’ve put yourself through. If you tip the balance too far without enough recovery, and you will crash and burn. If your plan for connecting with God is trying to constantly recreate your “mountain top” moments, you will crash and burn.

Progress

Working with a coach for your running training is one of the best ways to avoid progressing too quickly with distance, vertical gain, or time. On the spiritual journey, without measurable data, your spiritual companion can be an indispensable resource to notice the progress you’ve made. It is often hard to see the forest for the trees.

The Long View

Both in running and the spiritual life, we are here for the whole journey, not just until the next race. We know that making choices with the long view in mind simplifies many of the most-common short term problems.

Community

No person can run this race alone. Each of us needs a full support team on our life journey. We hope that coaching/spiritual companioning and fellow pilgrims will be strong players amongst the rest of your friends, family, faith community, and other service professionals.
