Supporting you in embodying your spirituality

You may feel lost right now. There may be a big moment of discernment in your life and you struggle to see the path God is leading you down. Or perhaps you feel disconnected from God. Your former, mind-focused ways of praying are no longer working for you and the wall between you and God feels insurmountable. You long to restore a deep sense of connection in your spiritual life but you are not sure how.

You may wonder why God seems so distant.

If this is you, do you find yourself wondering…

  • why you aren’t experiencing strong feelings in relation to which path to take in your life?

  • if you’ve unintentionally taken a path that has caused you to fall away from God?

  • if you haven’t been praying “enough” or in the “right” way?

Often we blame ourselves for our spiritual path not looking or feeling the way we expect it to be. In doing so, we attempt to regain a sense of control in a season where we feel utterly disoriented and powerless.

God sometimes withdraws the feelings that once accompanied your prayer so that there will be space for something deeper.

The truth is, God is inviting you into a deeper relationship. Right now. At this very moment. God sometimes withdraws the feelings that once accompanied your prayer so that there will be space for something deeper. By withdrawing these gifts, God shows you that you cannot control God. Without control, your option is to turn away or to surrender. God will not coerce you.

If you want to respond to God’s invitation to enter into a deeper relationship, then you are in the right place.

Throughout the centuries, people have found it helpful to discuss their spiritual journey with a companion. I am here to walk alongside you as we listen contemplatively to God’s movements in your life. Together, we will discuss what you sense God is up to and discern ways to respond.

You will find yourself noticing more and more the ways God is at work in your life. You’ll begin to respond to God in a way that aligns with your authentic self.

If you want to experience a deep sense of coming home to yourself and God, let’s talk. Let’s have a conversation and begin walking this path together.

“…help given by one believer to another that enables the latter

to pay attention to God’s personal communication to him or her,

to respond to this personally communicating God,

and to live out the consequences of the relationship.”

-William Berry

What’s Included

  1. Contemplative Listening

In our fast-paced world, it is easy to live life on “autopilot.” Our time together offers you a sacred space for you to break away and become mindfully present to the movements of God in your life. Through contemplative listening and asking meaningful questions, I will walk with you as you learn to discern what God may be up to in your life and respond in ways that are authentic to you.

… look at Jesus as he appears in gospel events and let themselves become absorbed in what he was like, what he cares about, and what he is doing. Contemplation begins when people stop being totally preoccupied with their own concerns and let another person, event, or object take their attention.

-William Berry

2. Growing Relationship with God

Anything healthy changes—relationships included. Loving God in an authentic way involves becoming malleable as you learn to respond to God in a way that is authentic to the moment. You can expect your relationship with God to grow, shift, and deepen. You may discover new ways to pray and relate with God as you invite all of you—mind, body, and spirit—into your relationship.

[The disciples] came to know [Jesus], they observed him, joined his company, watched the way he acted, and listened to him speak. Their experience of him led them to raise questions about him and then enabled them to answer those questions.

-William Berry

3. Ongoing Spiritual Support

You are not meant to journey this path alone. Each of us needs a full support team on our life journey. I am here to walk with you on this leg of your spiritual journey. Through consistent, ongoing support, I hope that spiritual direction will be a strong player amongst the rest of your friends, family, faith community, and other service professionals.

Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them…”

What People Are Saying

“Chris is gifted at asking questions. His questions seem to come from a natural well of curiosity, and that lends a compassionate atmosphere to our chats. Not unlike a good counselor, his questions help people open themselves to their own conclusions, hopes, faults, and personalities.”

— Brandon Wiegand

“I like that you aren't impatient. You let me talk, and then help guide me and give me food for thought. I like that you challenge me and push me, but also remind me to be kind to myself.”

— Michael Mudd

“Chris at Pilgrim Endurance offers a resource worth its weight in gold….The Christian journey is often referred to as a race (Isaiah 40:31). Working with Chris has changed my life and now my training. He not only strengthens my running but also my spirit. I highly recommend working with Chris.”

— Taylor Kallsen
